Dimorestudio & Callidus Guild

September 15 - December 31, 2015

The Future Perfect presents the US debut of the Progetto Non Finito collection, a series of furniture and rugs designed by celebrated Milanese design firm DIMORESTUDIO. On view alongside site-specific handmade wallpaper by CALLIDUS GUILD, the exhibition marks the first time that DIMORESTUDIO’s elegant furniture and rugs creations will be on view and available to purchase in the United States, as well as their first partnership outside of Italy. Opening at The Future Perfect on September 14, 2015, the exhibition pairs two design studios that blur the boundaries between art and design, fashion and architecture.

Founded in 2003 by Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, DIMORESTUDIO creates interiors and objects that evoke a distinct atmosphere. Known for their use of rich, deep colors and a harmonious blend of historical periods, DIMORESTUDIO’s uniquely contemporary aesthetic has made the firm a favorite among top luxury fashion brands and hoteliers around the world. The DIMORESTUDIO furniture and rugs collection, Progetto Non Finito, translates the duo’s sophisticated aesthetic into object form using a deft balance of opulent materials and historical inspiration with a contemporary design vocabulary.

DIMORESTUDIO at The Future Perfect will feature a range of seating, tables, bookcases, lighting, and more, including new rug designs from the firm’s widely praised presentation during Salone del Mobile 2015. “I’ve been following DIMORESTUDIO’s work for years. They are one of the most talented firms working today and I’m honored to bring their furniture to the US for the first time ever,” said David Alhadeff, founder of The Future Perfect. “The principles and aesthetics that guide DIMORESTUDIO’s designs are echoed in the work of CALLIDUS GUILD, another exciting new addition to The Future Perfect family.”

ABOUT DIMORESTUDIO

Based in Milan, DIMORESTUDIO is a luxury interior design firm, founded by American-born Britt Moran and the Italian-born Emiliano Salci. Renowned for their lush aesthetic, their work pulls references from fine art, fashion and industrial practices – and extends from furniture, seating, storage, lighting, decorative works and textiles, to fully realized interiors in retail and hospitality, including Hermes and Fendi.

Born in North Carolina, Britt Moran was exposed to classical furnishings from a young age through a family firm. After studying biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he moved to Milan to teach English before landing in interior design. The studio’s other half, Emiliano Salci, was raised in Arezzo, Tuscany. Salci was also immersed in design as a child, through his father’s modern furniture gallery. After inheriting the family business, he later took an art director position with Giulio Cappellini, working with famed designers Jasper Morrison and Tom Dixon.

In 2003, Moran and Salci came together to found DIMORESTUDIO. The name “Dimore,” which translates to “dwellings” in Italian, was chosen to encapsulate their vision for bridging ancient and modern worlds. Originally intended to outfit private residences, they soon began producing furniture in Italy, with a range of chairs, lighting, sofas and bookshelves.
The duo quickly earned a reputation for their meticulous, sumptuous pieces and interiors – rich with color and nearly academic in its historical references. Some of their most notable work includes the lighting installation at Ian Schrager’s Pump Room, and the interiors of the Paris restaurant Café Burlot, Paris’ Hotel Saint Marc and the Casa Fayette in Guadalajara, Mexico.
