Linden Branch

Drawn to the paradox between natural forms and manmade shapes, Charles de Lisle designed the Linden by drawing inspiration from a cherry blossom branch. Reimagining the twisted leafless form in very human, simple geometry, the Linden series utilizes extruded hexagonal brass conduit as its central building block. The faceted structure playfully recalls early computer graphics, mimicking a video game tree. To initially produce the Linden, de Lisle looked to bicycle construction for a way of creating joint angles on the hexagonal form. The system of connections he developed allow for a series that includes hanging fixtures, table lamps, floor lamps, sconces and flush mounts.

The first in the series, the Linden Branch takes the most classic approach to a chandelier in silhouette yet is infused with the energy and sense of play characteristic to de Lisle’s work. The fixture hangs asymmetrically, giving a rawness to the presentation of the lit brass structure, almost as if it is a found object.
