Born in Madrid and raised in Vancouver, Christian Woo’s design is grounded in his time as a cabinetmaker and wood worker. He was also inspired by his grandfather, who was a skilled artisan and woodworker. This immersion into the craft led to the opening of his own studio in 2006, where he produced works that made a splash in the design world with their clean lines and rich natural materials. Incorporating treated hardwoods and colorful accents, Woo’s sensibility resonated with the contemporary furniture market.

Woo’s designs range from elegant cabinet collections to the expertly made black glass Cluster Color table, which debuted at Interior Design Show West in 2013. Created with state of the art natural woods, the minimalist details of Woo collection pieces honor the Pacific Northwest through the inclusion of materials such as black walnut and white washed ash.

Showcased at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York in 2015, Christian Woo’s work exhibits a strong sense of identity while offering clients and industry professionals real solutions for the commercial and residential market. Christian Woo furniture pieces from high-level black ash barstools to low-level minimalist platform beds exhibit careful detailing, balanced proportions, and elegant finishes that marry high level production and traditional craft.

Christian Woo has engaged in a recent collaboration with design luminary Michael Anastassiades to produce a lighting collection that incorporates natural finishes and modern silhouettes. His work has also won him the prestigious Carter Wosk BC Creative Achievement Award for Applied Art and Design in 2012 and his pieces have been showcased at The Canadian High Commission Gallery in London and Interior Design Show West, in Vancouver.
