With a propensity for pure, timeless lines, Christophe Delcourt nonetheless designs pieces that are expressive, powerful, willful. He sculpts the material, challenging it, sometimes contradicting it. His designs never seek effect, but rather to subtract, to cut away until the piece becomes architecture, a concentration of rigor and poetry. Rather than the great designers of the past, it is modern artists who inspire his work: Isamu Noguchi, Constantin Brancusi, Rudolf Schindler.

Wood is his material of predilection, a material that is ever changing and allows for an infinite variety of forms and hues. Christophe Delcourt likes to elevate it, transforming its raw strength into refinement. He combines the skill of cabinetmaking with a repertoire of form that excludes nothing, including the incorporation of elements in ceramic, stone, bronze or natural fibers.
