Christopher Stuart

Christopher Stuart is an American artist and designer recognized for his renegade creation process. Informed by minimalism, conceptualism and constructivism, Christopher Stuart's designs focus on creating narratives through his use of process, materials and construction.

Christopher’s work is inspired by the undefined areas where art and design intersect, further challenging the idea of function. His pieces evoke an emotional response, challenging their role as furniture and inviting questions and lines of inquiry with their inherent design contradictions.

Christopher Stuart has been a natural multi-hyphenate from the get go. Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Christopher started his career as a welder, while also pursuing art. Interested in design, he taught himself graphic design and found work as a prototype maker for an industrial design department; quickly working his way up to an industrial design position.

He attended the Herron School of Art and Design and graduated in 2012 with a BFA in Furniture Design.

Christopher Stuart was recognized by Sight Unseen Offsite and listed on the American Design Hot List in 2014.

Constructs & Glitches, a collection of limited edition and one-of-a-kind sculptural furniture, is the first comprehensive collection presented by Christopher Stuart. The solo exhibition was unveiled as a solo show in New York City at The Future Perfect.
