Lee Broom began his initial forays in the visual world through an obsession with drama and the theatrical arts. At the age of 16 he was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, intent on becoming an actor. Fashion was also calling: at the age of 17, Broom competed in a clothing competition judged by renowned fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, which led to a seven month internship at the iconic designer’s studio and a position in her Paris studio. Following this immersion into high fashion, the designer chose to enroll at Central St. Martins studying women’s fashion design.

During his studies, Lee Broom moonlighted by designing the interiors of stylish London bars including the 17,000 square foot club Nylon. Experience in interior design and its pragmatic application pushed Broom further towards object and furniture design, leading to the creation of his own company after 5 years of experience in the design industry.

Lee Broom’s first furniture collection Neo Neon paid tribute to classic British lines with an ingeniously New Age twist. The sumptuous mahogany materials were high glossed and then outfitted with neon lights, resulting in a highly successful collection that spawned a business empire. Today, Broom’s coveted designs – which include critical favorites such as the Optical Light and Altar Chair – are sold in the designer’s London emporium in addition to 120 stores in over 40 countries throughout the world. With an ability to seamlessly move between industries and aesthetics, Broom has appeared in front of Parliament as a guest speaker and collaborated with stellar clients such as Kanye West, Selfridges, Christian Louboutin, Top Man, and Harrod’s. He is also the winner of over 20 design awards, including the ELLE Decoration British Design Award, a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, Courvoisier Future 500 Award, Studio East Award for Product Design, as well as four British Design Award wins.
