Gubi is an international design house based in Denmark excelling at eclectic and luxurious designs of sophistication and unparalleled workmanship. Making a name for itself by reviving the traditions and aesthetics of the past, Gubi calls itself a “global design house on a journey.”

Founded in 1967 by Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen, the store was created as a platform for Gubi’s furniture, textiles, and lighting designs to be produced and sold in the retail sector. For a time Gubi also delved into fashion in conjunction with sons Jacob and Sebastian, launching a concept store bringing leading fashion labels such as Prada and Helmut Lang to Denmark for the first time. In 2001 however, Jacob reconsidered and the focus returned to interiors inspired by the postwar decades of the 20th century.

Gubi has always had a penchant for the past. The company is known for revisiting Danish, Scandinavian, and international classic designs and reviving archival pieces so that they become relevant again in the contemporary world. Committed to producing traditional Danish craft as well as highlighting international contemporary designers, Gubi furniture strives for innovation and creative mastery. A Gubi chair is a great example of this signature design.

Collections by Gubi include products such as lighting, tables, office pieces, seating, living room pieces, storage, accessories, lighting, mirrors, and more. In addition to winning a number of accolades for their legacy of innovation, the Gubi Chair, a collaboration with Komplot Design, was chosen by MoMA to be featured in their permanent collection. Bestlite, their collection of Bauhaus-influenced lamps, has been in production since 1930 and was revived by the company with a 13-piece collection that captivated the world.

Gubi’s innovative products were designed by some of the world’s most captivating names. The list includes Bonderup & Thorup, Corsini & Ruiz Millet, Gamfratesi, Greta M. Grossman, Gubi Olsen, Kerstin H. HolmQuist, Henning Larsen Architects, Jacques Adnet, Komplot Design, Louis Weisdorf, Mathieu Mategot, Oliver Schick, Paul Leroy, Robert Dudley Best, Anders Lundqvist, Sebastian Herkner, Space CPH, Gio Ponti, and Oio Studio.
