For this cabinet, Piet Hein Eek used elm instead of scrap wood. The structure and color variations of elm are, in this case, more beautiful than oak or beech. As is characteristic of most of Hein Eek's special objects, the cabinet is precision work. The material, detailing and attention that has been paid to the small cabinet evokes a period in which traditional crafts were still a part of every day life.
