Designed by brothers Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962, the Toio Lamp takes its inspiration and its physical structure from a 300-watt car headlamp. This unique bulb, oriented to provide indirect light, is affixed to deconstructed parts of a fishing rod which contain the lamp’s power cord. A convenient cleat at the lamp’s base provides storage for the cord when not in use. This iconic fixtures is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
