Tourou are well-known as the traditional lanterns made of stone that line both sides of the paths leading to the shrines and temples. This lamp has a large lamp shade in the upper section. This Tourou is lighting made with Japanese washi paper resembling in the shape of stone lantern. Designed by the product designer Shigeyuki Hasegawa, the lamp combines the distinct design of Japanese paper and the traditional lantern production method of Gifu region for its representation of Tourou. Soft light filtered through the Japanese paper and the line of spiral strips represent the lighting of unmatched beauty.
