Alexis & Ginger’s Scarab Mirror draws on their ongoing research into the intimate rituals and objects of the dressing table, from combs and beadwork to ancient jewelry. Its carved, rounded wooden frame takes inspiration from scaraboid rings, worn by the ancient Egyptians and later the Greeks as symbols of rebirth and often engraved with personal seals or emblems of strength. Suspended beneath the mirror, a jewel-like vignette of delicate glass droplets evokes the precious ornamentation of these historical objects.
