Sulfer/Topaz Vessel, 2021
Jeremy Martin is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work spans drawing, painting, sculpture, and jewelry making. During the recent global pandemic, Jeremy revisited watercolor painting, a medium that first sparked his interest in high school. His new approach aims to enhance the functionality and preservation of the delicate materials involved. The DISTANT/LANDS series are original watercolor paintings transformed into sculptures, then sealed and cast in a resin base. Born out of a need to connect to the world and nature during a time when travel is at a standstill, each one-of-a-kind sculpture tells the story of natural elements like water, stone, and sand from distant places.
