Vase 54
By Jonathan Cross
Jonathan Cross’ captivating vessels are formed with an ancient wood-firing technique, which the master ceramicist employs to create usable sculpture - vases and vessels that resemble ancient geological forms reinterpreted for a modern world.
The artist’s background and strong graphic sensibility is evident in each exclusive piece, which draws on visual inspiration from artists such as Richard Serra. Merging sculpture and utility, the ceramicist’s vessels are both minimalist and luxe with texture and color that references the artist’s passion for geology, science fiction and contemporary art. Based on their unique process, strong silhouettes and rich texture, each piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind.
