The Turlington Chair is woven of 100% Colombian mimbre (wicker) ethically sourced in the Colombian Amazon. Chris Wolston wanted to create a body of work that felt soft and inviting while maintaining a technical sophistication and strong connection to craft. “A lot of furniture tends to steer away from embodying human-like form yet the human body has such an intimate familiarity with furniture. Wouldn’t it be nice to create a chair that embraces a different physicality--a chair that hugs you back?” The human form riffs on the iconic shape of the plastic Remax Chair, ubiquitous through Colombia, and the playful humanoid quality found in pre-Columbian ceramics.
