Lucid Dream

Toogood New York May 1 - June 16, 2025

In LUCID DREAM, Faye Toogood returns to the studio—alone, yet fully surrounded by her inner world. Following years of deep collaboration with artisans and creative partners, this new body of work marks a conscious shift inward: an exploration of the subconscious, the symbolic, and the purely personal.

Staged across two dynamic venues—The Future Perfect and TIWA Select—LUCID DREAM offers a rare glimpse into Toogood’s intimate, instinctual process. Many works in the exhibition are one-of-one creations, where furniture becomes canvas. Surfaces are animated by the immediacy of hand-painted gestures, brushstrokes that echo both ritual and reverie.

LUCID DREAM floats between states:
Daydream and night labor.
The ethereal and the earthy.
Creative intuition and subconscious logic.

“I needed to momentarily stop all the plates spinning around me,” Toogood says, “and focus on the swirl within.” The result is a collection that is both grounded and transportive—a dream drawn in lines, colors, and form.

At The Future Perfect, the townhouse’s lower level and garden become a contemplative sanctuary. Here, Toogood’s hand-painted furniture pieces are surrounded by quiet light and soft color, inviting a reflective experience of creativity unbound.

LUCID DREAM is a meditation on artistic autonomy, an invitation to inhabit the liminal space where waking and dreaming meet.

On view at The Future Perfect, New York, beginning May 1, featuring hand-painted furniture and one light fixture from debut of the JONNY collection. The exhibition extends to TIWA Select to showcase hand-painted light fixtures.
