We carved the inside of round solid wood tabletop to be thin, resulting in a low table complemented by the rim raised along its edge. The curved surface is finished by human touch, checking the wood texture through their feelings on their bare hands. The arced crosspiece that supports the tabletop is also carved from solid wood. Bordered by its rim, the tabletop takes on the image of a great lotus leaf. We envisioned a scene within the calm appearance, in which it receives raindrops just like a lotus leaf in a temple’s pond.
