David Valner’s Parasitica Water Jug series continues the artist’s long-term exploration of fungi and mold as both biological phenomenon and metaphor. Here the jug’s clean, archetypal silhouette becomes a host form, a vessel invaded by vivid, organic structures that appear to spread, drip, and consume. The glossy flowing layers evoke uncontrolled biological expansion, referencing parasitic molds that both fascinate and disturb. Glass becomes a living surface. The tension between the refined, controlled vessel and the aggressive, spontaneous growth reflects a dialogue between design and nature. Each jug is made using traditional handmade glassmaking techniques.
