BRICK, a collection of works from Dutch artist Floris Wubben, explores Floris’ interest in and connection to the history of brickmaking. For this collection, he has used clay that is sourced from the Dollard Polder, an area located in the Northern Netherlands, and is ideal for extrusion due to its naturally greasy texture, which allows for precise shaping and molding. The Brick Hanging Mirror embraces the dimensionality inherent to mirrors and uses it to make a bold, sculptural statement typical of Wubben’s oeuvre. With pieces that seem to move through space in a way that mimics the artist’s famed extrusion process, the Brick Hanging Mirror is an object that appears to exist in a never-ending process of coming into existence.
