Beacon

John Hogan Los Angeles Aug 2022 - Oct 2022

Beacon

Beacon, the newest body of work from John Hogan, was born from Hogan’s fascination with light as it is amplified through glass. Finding color through both his material and the light it produces, Hogan establishes a foundation for perception that allows the viewer to move along unseen contours in the space around these objects, landing in the rich and superbly crafted objects themselves.

Beacon refers to the ability of glass to both reflect light and draw attention to a specific location. Examining the complexity of light as a set of simultaneous reactions, Beacon is a continuation of Hogan’s unique and esoteric approach to physics. The resulting objects are the work of an artist who is driven by both a poetic mysticism and a meticulous devotion to craft.
