STUDIO D’HAENE

Jane Yang-D'Haene & D'Haene Studio New York May 12 - June 26, 2026

Studio D’Haene debuts its first furniture collection at The Future Perfect, a deeply personal body of work created by wife and husband duo Jane Yang-D’Haene and the late Francis D’Haene. While both maintained independent creative practices, this collection marks the first time they designed together, a collaboration they had long envisioned but only recently brought to life.

That moment arrived unexpectedly at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where they encountered a historical Korean jogakbo, a patchwork textile that stopped them both in their tracks. From that shared instinct, an idea took shape: to translate the beauty of this tradition into furniture designed for the rooms they loved most, the living room and the dining room.

The collection reflects a dialogue between their distinct sensibilities. Jane brought her background as a ceramic artist to the surfaces of the works, while Francis shaped the details, proportions, and overall forms. Despite never having collaborated in this way before, the process was, in Jane’s words, remarkably fluid, and the resulting pieces felt immediately resolved.

Francis tragically passed away following the initial development of the collection. This debut at The Future Perfect stands as both a celebration of their shared vision and a tribute to his enduring creative legacy. Jane will continue to carry the work forward, with several additional designs that Francis completed still to come.
