Beyond their critically lauded environments, the firm is actively engaged in industrial and product design for many prestigious European manufacturers in addition to their own eponymous “neri&hu” product line. Every Neri & Hu desgin project begins with extensive design research, a process that anchors the work in the dynamic and complex interaction of experience, detail, material, form, and light as opposed to conforming to a formulaic style.

Neri & Hu’s global purview is the result of the founders’ education and professional trajectories. Mr. Neri received a Bachelor of Architecture at the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Architecture at Harvard University. Prior to starting Neri & Hu, he was the Director for Projects in Asia and an Associate for Michael Graves & Associates in Princeton for over 10 years. Neri also worked in New York City for various blue chip architectural firms.

Ms. Hu received a Master of Architecture and Urban Planning from Princeton University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Music from the University of California at Berkeley. Prior to establishing Neri & Hu, Ms. Hu worked for Michael Graves & Associates, Ralph Lerner Architect in Princeton, Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in New York City, and The Architects Collaborative (TAC) in San Francisco.

The firm, in addition to both Mr. Neri and Ms. Hu individually, has received numerous design awards and honors, including induction into U.S. Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2013. UK Wallpaper* 2014 Designer of The Year, as well as selection as one of the I. D. Magazine I.D. Forty and one of the 40 under 40 prominent designers shaping Hong Kong and Greater China respectively and Architectural Digest China 100 top talents in architecture and interior design.

Academically speaking, both partners have remained active in teaching and research at a number of schools, including the University of Hong Kong Graduate School Department of Architecture, Princeton University, Harvard University Graduate School of Design, University of California at Berkeley and Syracuse University. They have been invited to speak at Mexico Design Week; Domus China Dialogue; Princeton University School of Architecture 2012-2013 Lecture Series; Bauwelt Panel Discussion Badgespräche; Business of Design Week; Inside Festival, World Architecture Festival Spain; Beijing International Design Triennial 2011; the White Box Workshop, Hong Kong Design Center; Design Roulette Shanghai 2011; the Royal Institute of British Architects; Re-inventing with Design (Red) 2010, Hong Kong; the Dutch Pavilion, EXPO 2010, Shanghai; and many other design, fashion, art related events.

Neri and Hu are also the founders of Design Republic, a retail concept store in Shanghai offering unique products by the world's best design talents, many of which are not otherwise available to consumers in China. The flagship store design received the Perspective Awards Best Interior Retail and the Design For Asia Best Design of Greater China.

The firm’s core vision is a global worldview incorporating overlapping design disciplines to create a new paradigm in architecture and design. It has a multi-cultural staff that speaks over 30 different languages and is currently working on projects in countries all over the globe.
