The form of the Sonobe Plug-in Light is based on a Japanese origami sphere known as a kusudama, traditionally constructed from flowers and herbs to ward off sickness and evil. Translating this protective form into a night light, the piece uses red oak end-grain veneer to create a warm glow and a subtle starry-sky effect.
