Pentagon is a sofa that takes the arrangement of stepping stones and paving stones found in Japanese gardens as its starting point and translates that feeling into a pentagonal form. Rather than pre-determining the flow of movement or how to use it, we value leaving it to the user's senses. Neither square nor round, the independent pentagonal modules are never too rigid. Depending on the arrangement and spacing, conversation, gaze, and comfort subtly change, and there is no single correct layout. Individually, it becomes a place of its own; when connected, a loose connection is created; and when spaced apart, a comfortable empty space is created. Like stepping stones, it gently guides people to natural behavior without excessively interfering with their movement or sense of distance. Pentagon is a sofa designed with such a quiet and peaceful existence in mind.
