4-6 Weeks Lead-Time
Brett Douglas Hunter is a self-taught artist living and working in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally from Illinois, he comes from a family of self-propelled artists and builders, seemingly destined to be a maker from the beginning. Brett dove head-first into the world of sculpture, making weird and wonderful creatures using a fibrous cement mixture. His alt-mix material chairs are all inspired by a pair of folk art tiger chairs his grandparents have. They're fun and simply made, kind of stiff looking and made mid-size, which allows them to be more than just something to sit on, and almost not something to sit on at all, at least not for very long. His chairs are mostly just fun to look at, though his uncle has one and uses it every day to sit and take off his shoes before going in the house. Function for a few seconds a day is still functional. With this new chair for The Future Perfect, Brett injected a bit more functionality and played with the angles and seat with the hope that someone will sit on it and have a conversation and not just briefly remove their footwear.
