The Philips Cabinet was created when Piet Hein Eek found a number of metal-framed doors in a junk pile in Eindhoven, the material having been discarded by the Philips electronics company when it moved its headquarters to Amsterdam. The cabinets became very popular, and the Eek studio eventually began producing a line based on the original pieces, including the handmade hinges and latches. The Philips Cabinet is available in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 columns.
