The Pilz Nr. 07 Clear Blown Glass with Murrine, part of the Volker Haug Pilz collection, explores a 4,000-year-old Glassmaking technique revived and mastered by Venetian artisans in the early 16th century. Defined by a soft, mushroom-like silhouette, each lamp is blown in Murano, Venice, and combines a nuanced mix of classic and contemporary Murrine patterns, resulting in pieces that are entirely unique within the series.
Committed to close collaboration with long-time partners, Volker Haug Studio travelled from Melbourne to Venice to work hands-on alongside the Murano artisans, a collaboration strengthened by years of mutual trust and shared expertise.
The collection balances centuries-old craftsmanship with a modern, sculptural sensibility, producing pieces that feel at once timeless and quietly expressive.
