Chen Chen & Kai Williams’ Stone Rose Floor Light transforms ancient geological material into a remarkably delicate lighting form. Each rose is meticulously carved from quartz stones gathered along the North Shore of Long Island, remnants of glacial movement dating back roughly 16,000 to 20,000 years. Shaped into exceptionally thin petals that belie the hardness of the stone, the elements are joined by sculptural brass stems that provide both structure and elegance. Through an innovative finishing process, layers of solder are connected, creating seamless transitions that soften the junctions between materials, marrying strength with an extraordinary sense of lightness and refinement.
