Laura Chautin’s A Very British Landscape Jug, hand built and hand painted in porcelain ceramic, evokes the charm of a traditional English tea set. Its surface is illustrated with nostalgic scenes of the British countryside with gardens and wildflowers recalling the artist’s childhood, rendered in her distinctive, storybook-like hand. At the rim, a line of gold kintsugi introduces a subtle contemporary gesture of repair and ornament. Based in New York, the English-American multi-disciplinary artist draws on folk art, nature, and illustration.
