Arthur Vallin’s Lithos Jug, carved from a single block of Onyx Verde with a honed finish, reinterprets the utilitarian vessel through the language of sculpture. Its tapered body and gently canted opening are carefully shaped to guide the flow of water. The weight of the stone is concentrated low in the form to create natural stability on the table. removing the necessity for a handle, inviting the hand to engage directly with the material. As light passes slightly through the onyx, mineral layers in soft green, cream, and rust tones become visible, making each jug entirely unique.
