An exercise in optical illusion, Atelier Février’s Sri di rug achieves three dimensionality through the repetition of an undulating geometric motif. Designer Florian Pretet, whose designs begin as elaborate graphic drawings, transforms stationary patterns into artworks that achieve the illusion of visual movement. Using 100% Tibetan wool that is hand-carded and hand-spun, the rug is the result of the combined effort of more than 50 artisans who use traditional, generations-old techniques. Through this fusion of artisanal technique and contemporary vision, a standard rug has been transformed into a captivating and playful canvas.
