Born in 1985, Lex Pott studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven, where he began his love affair with raw materials. His thesis project included wooden shelves and an oversized stone table, and was pioneering for its nods to sustainability and ecology. Striking out on his own, Pott’s True Colors collection used treated metals, panels, shelves, and vases to exposed the exuberance of uncorroded metal, while his Diptych collection explored organic and geometric shapes. His Pivot line of silver corner shelves with gold cone embellishments was picked up the famed Dutch manufacturer Hay in 2013, solidifying Pott’s status as a world-class designer.

In 2016 Pott created La Cornue, a metal oxidized stove, which showed at Milan Design Week as part of the Chroma collection. With rivers of marbled blue and bright golden clasps on its exterior, the fully functional range creates fantasy out of the ordinary, bringing art and design together in a way that elevates both.

Pott’s maintains an ongoing collaboration with Hay, as well as work for &Tradition, Studio Thomas Vailly, and Wallpaper* Handmade. His work has shown at Prometeo Gallery in Milan, Het Nieuwe Institute in Rotterdam, Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, The Aram Gallery in London, New Window in Eindoven, Museum Artipelag in Gustavsberg, and others. He has been awarded numerous accolades, including winner of the No.1 Design Talent in the Netherlands by Volkskrant 2015, winner of the Young Talent Pin selected by Linteloo 2014, and the winner of the AUPING Styling Award public prize in 2012. Pott was also nominated for the MINI Young Designer Award 2013, the D3 contest IM Cologne 2013, the Rene Smeets prize in 2009, the Melkweg prize in 2009, and for the Designhuis Talent award in 2009.
