Inspired by the formidable architecture of defensive structures, Floris Wubben’s Stools exemplify the designer’s distinctive approach to ceramic design, where manual intervention meets mechanical extrusion. Drawing on childhood memories of the woods and dunes of Zeeland, Wubben transforms clay into rugged, functional forms that evoke the strength and permanence of bunkers. Deliberate manipulations during the extrusion process create twisted, highly individual silhouettes that push beyond the limits of conventional ceramic production, resulting in sculptural pieces that balance raw materiality with mechanical precision.
