Named for alba, meaning dawn in Spanish, the ALBA chandelier series by Guy Corriero draws from memories of the white stucco walls found in small Spanish towns, where light and shadow play across roughened surfaces throughout the day. Each chandelier is composed of multiple hand-finished plaster elements whose textured surfaces recall these architectural facades, grounding the work in material and place. ALBA is conceived as a modular system, with individual components connected by hooks that allow for customizable configurations and an intuitive approach to mixing and matching elements. Suspended slightly below the ceiling by a chain, the chandelier appears to float in space. Light grazing the plaster surfaces emphasizes their hand-made character, revealing subtle variations that register as traces of touch and process.
