Jillian Mayer

Jillian Mayer (b. 1984, Miami) is a Cuban-American internationally recognized artist and filmmaker. Her museum solo exhibitions include the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha, Nebraska (2019), Kunst Aarhus, Aarhus, Denmark (2019), University of Buffalo Art Museum, Buffalo NY (2018), Tufts University, Boston, MA (2018); Pérez Art Museum, Miami, FL (2016); LAXART, Los Angeles, CA (2016); Utah Museum of Fine Art, Salt Lake City, UT (2014), among others. She has also exhibited, screened films, and performed at MoMA PS1 (2017), MoMA (2013), the Guggenheim Museum (2010), Prospect, Art Basel, and more. Mayer’s work has been featured in Artforum, Art Papers, Art in America, ArtNews, The Huffington Post, The New York Times, and numerous books and academic publications.

A recipient of many fellowships, including Cintas Foundation Fellowship for Cuban Artists, Zentrum Paul Klee in Switzerland, and she was named one of the “25 New Faces of Independent Film” by Filmmaker Magazine. Mayer’s films have screened at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Rottenberg Film Fest, and the New
York Film Festival.

Mayer’s work is in several permanent public sculpture collections such as the Port of Miami, Miami , FL (2021) and Uiseong’s Permanent Collection, Korea, (2024) Mayer has exhibited, screened films, and performed at venues including MoMA PS1, The Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Prospect New Orleans, and Art Basel.
Currently, Mayer has solo sculptural projects at the Baker Museum, Naples, Fl (2025) and the Sarasota Art Museum, Sarasota, FL (2025) with upcoming exhibitions including MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA (2026) and David Castillo Gallery, Miami, FL (2026).

Mayer is the founder and director of CITY STATE, an artist-run space in Miami, Florida.
