Bianco graduated from the California College of the Arts in 2004, receiving his B.F.A. in glass, with an emphasis on sculpture and furniture design. Initially drawn to working with clay, the artist discovered an affinity for glass more than two decades ago. Since graduating he has worked with some of the industry’s top names including Jeff Zimmerman and Maestro Silvano Signoretto.

Bianco sees his pieces foremost as works of art, but their functionality has made them much coveted by the design world. Bianco employs a minimal aesthetic that’s also technically rigorous and increasingly ambitious in scale. Standout collection pieces include Polaris, a constellation of trapezoidal glass cones joined together with brass, leather, and felt. Exuding an elemental simplicity, the Pavilion Sconce is made of a single blown glass module treated with a hand surface matte finish.

Founded in 2013, Bianco’s studio draws inspiration from nature, space and the ancient world. Minimalist lines and the purity of basic geometric forms give many pieces an architectural and slightly space aged feel. To achieve this broad range, Bianco utilizes a number of techniques, including classical Venetian glass blowing, lapidary carving and sculpting.

Bianco has taught at various institutions across the U.S. including Public Glass in San Francisco, Chicago Hot Glass in Illinois as well as Urban Glass, Brooklyn Glass, New York University, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His work has been featured in leading magazines including Departures, W Magazine, Metropolis and Sight Unseen.
