With a bachelor's of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, Ian Co-founded the furniture design company Fort Standard in 2011. He left the company in 2018 to dedicate himself to his sculptural work which had been a driving motivation throughout the venture. After a three year inspirational hiatus spent living mostly in the rainforest of central america, his new insights and well developed interests of the past are synthesised in a robust spectrum of new works. The treatment of material into both industrial and organic forms are underpinned by themes of emergence and interconnectedness in his work.
