Hieros Gamos by Lindsey Adelman introduces a new body of illuminated mobiles created during the twentieth year of Lindsey Adelman Studio. Entering a more alchemical and mythic realm, the collection takes its title from the concept of sacred union: the joining of divine masculine and feminine energies, inner and outer worlds, and ancient and contemporary sensibilities. Comprising ten suspended mobiles and two sconces, each unique by nature. The mobiles are formed from a pared-back armature of metal tubing and coaxial cable supporting constellations of glass orbs and ceramic canopies inscribed with hand-drawn symbols in gold enamel. Every mobile incorporates minerals as both visual and symbolic anchors. Air currents set the compositions into gentle, continuous motion, transforming the atmosphere of a room. Neither literal nor prescriptive, Adelman’s symbols invite connection rather than interpretation. Hieros Gamos feels at once ancient and immediate, an elegant synthesis of technical mastery and spiritual inquiry designed to protect, uplift, and expand our sense of the unseen.
