Lindsey Adelman’s Illuminated Mobile II.05.02 is part of the artist’s Hieros Gamos series, drawing from the concept of sacred union: the joining of divine masculine and feminine energies, inner and outer worlds, and ancient and contemporary sensibilities. Suspended from a ceramic canopy inscribed with hand-drawn gold enamel symbols, a delicate armature of satin nickel tubing and coaxial cable supports 5 illuminated glass forms and a cascading curtain of chain fringe. The piece unfolds as an elegant composition of light, line, and counterweight. Designed to move gently with the surrounding air, the composition continuously shifts in form, subtly transforming the atmosphere of a room.
